Plantar fasciitis is a condition in which your feet feel pain when you aren't on your feet and are at rest. Your feet may feel like you are walking on pins and needles when you take those first steps in the morning after waking and resting your feet at night. If you feel like your feet are in pain after you have been resting and begin to take a few steps, it could be plantar fasciitis. If you suspect you have this condition, or you have pain in your feet such as this, you should get to the podiatrist for an appointment for treatment and a proper diagnosis. Read on for a few things you can also do to alleviate the pain associated with this condition.

Wear A Good Pair Of Shoes

Wear a good pair of shoes that offer you support and cushion for your feet. You need a cushion on your heels and support on your arch. You also need support around your ankles, so if your shoes are worn out, you need to update them with a new pair that offers you the right amount of support and cushion necessary to keep your feet healthy and in good shape. If you need extra support or cushion, you should use inserts in your shoes. Inserts for shoes can be found at your local big box store, or at any shoe store. Use these inserts in any pair of shoes that you have.

Keep Heels Low

Wearing high heels may not offer you the support that you need and could cause an issue for your heels as well. Wear heels that are low and not too high that it causes issues for your feet. Usually, if they are over 2 inches, they are too high. Stick with lower heels instead.

Lose Weight

Your weight could have something to do with your plantar fasciitis. It can also cause other issues for your feet as well. The heavier you are, the more weight is being pushed into your feet and your heels. You may notice that your shoes wear out more often, or that you have had more feet issues with your weight gain. Lose weight and see if it helps your feet at all.

If you have plantar fasciitis, or you suspect you have this condition, you need to get to the podiatrist for a proper diagnosis and for treatment options that are right for you.
